East Van is known for having lots of great bakeries and deli’s, many of which have been around for decades. Hastings East and Commercial Drive seem to be the mecca, but every neighbourhood should have a great place for your sandwich essentials.

This one has to go to La Grotta Del Formaggio on Commercial Drive. You can fine good quality meats and cheeses, sandwiches, and other Italian treats. Great place to go to pick up some lunch before a day at the park.

BEST BAKERY ON HASTINGS
A close second is the East Village Bakery in Hastings East (aka “The East Village”) for it’s great selection of gluten free treats. I can’t seem to go past this place without going in to get a cookie.
