Collingwood is a large neighbourhood located on the eastern side of Vancouver. The boundaries of Collingwood are Broadway to the north, East 41st to the south, Nanaimo to the west, and Boundary Rd. to the east.
Collingwood is a popular area of Vancouver East thanks to the Joyce Skytrain Station. There is a large community around the Skytrain station, filled with newer (1995 and more recent) concrete high rises, townhouses and even detached houses surrounding great park space, and neighbourhood amenities like a big Safeway, liquor store, and a ton of restaurants along Kingsway. Units facing North in Collingwood likely have some great views of the mountains (though you’ll also hear the Skytrain since it’s on the north end of the neighbourhood). New developments are still going up in Collingwood, so if you’re looking for something brand new you will have options here as well. This is a popular area with young people looking for something a little more affordable than most neighbourhoods closer to downtown Vancouver. The Joyce/Collingwood area is also popular with investors thanks to the good rentals rates and range of real estate options that often allow rentals.
The Collingwood area still has some history in the Carleton Elementary School (at the corner of Kingsway and Joyce) which was built in 1896.
The location of Joyce Collingwood is surprisingly close to Metrotown and BCIT in Burnaby. You can walk to Metrotown (or Central Park, Swangard Stadium, BCIT, etc) in half an hour. Transit options include great bus routes to Vancouver and Burnaby, the Skytrain Station and easy access to south Burnaby and Vancouver by car.
