Knight is a neighbourhood that lies on the eastern side of Vancouver. The boundaries of Knight are E 22nd Ave. to the north, W49th Ave. to the south, Windsor St. to the west, and Argyle St. to the east.
Knight, along with Main St, is another one of the smaller Real Estate Districts in East Vancouver. With most of the condos and lower priced units straddling Knight, the main thoroughfare, you’ll start to find the houses scattered a little further from the main street.
In the Knight neighbourhood, many of the buildings in this area are newer (think post 2008) so you’ll be able to find a good quality unit. A few of the newer buildings include King Edward Village (192 units) at Knight & Kingsway, and 2300 Kingsway (2013 completion with 423 units).
Moving up the price curve and you’ll start to see family oriented townhouse units and then detached houses. Knight is home to the highly desirable Kensington-Cedar Cottage neighbourhood, which is home to the city’s best known Elementary School: Charles Dickens. Many families strive to live in this area so their children can attend this school. Thanks to this demand, many of the houses in the area quite expensive though they are generally bigger (over 2000sqft) and renovated as compared to many bungalows seen elsewhere in the city). The house styles range from Vancouver Specials to Vancouver Craftsman and Craftsman Bungalow.
Kensington-Cedar Cottage is a good mix of cultures and demographics: young professionals with kids and older residents who have lived in the area for years.
There are some great parks in the area, including Sunnyside Park and Kensington Park, with Trout Lake being not too far away for the residents of northern Knight.
The Canada Line and Skytrain both miss this area of town, so you’l be relying on the bus system for transit to downtown and elsewhere.
